Prema Samajam took up the noble and kind hearted service to leprosy patients since 1938. It gave them bath, cleaned their wounds, applied medicines and dressed and provided them with food shelter, medicare as out patients in the initial period treated by the Samaj Workers.
The Samajam felt that it should have a Home for leposary Service instead of treating the patients here and there. The kind hearted Shrimathi Vyricherla Chandramani Patta Mahadevi, Rani Saheb of Chemudu gifted Sri Godey suryanarayana Rao Poor house to the Samajam. The poor house was in the half an acre of land consisted of three buildings in a dilapidated condition. With donation of the generous public these buildings were repaired and leprosy service centre was started on 05-08-1955. This centre is situated near Mrs.A.VN College, one and half mile away from the main Prema Samajam in Dabagardens.
Most of the Leprosy patients are those who led lives as carpenters masons, agriculturists Teachers, Trailers etc. are amenable of discipline and are not accustomed to begging. Begging is strictly prohibited for the inmates of use Leprosy service centre. The total number of Leprosy patients served to from 1953 to 31-07-2021 is 850.
